BECOME A HOST FAMILY
Why not volunteer to host an international student? It is an amazing, interesting, fun, and rewarding way to bring another culture to your family without having to leave home. The programs are short in duration compared to most cultural programs, but it is amazing how quickly you can learn a language, discover new cultures, and make new friendships with overseas students that can last a lifetime.

Our students normally arrive in May, June and July staying for a period of either 4-12 weeks depending on the length of the program.
At My High School we believe where you lay your head at night is the most important part of the study experience. That is why we work closely with our team of dedicated host families and local coordinators to provide a safe and memorable experience for both the host family and the student.

How do I become a host family?

-
Simply email your name and phone number to us at info@myhighschool.com.au and our staff will give you a call back at your preferred time answering any of your questions.
-
We then carefully match you with one of our applicant students considering your own interests and preferences once all child safety vetting is completed. You will then receive redacted summary profiles about our students and get the chance to choose which student you want to welcome to your home.
-
Once you have chosen your student, our local representative will visit your home to tell you more about being a host family reconfirming what you and your student’s obligations are. Our local representative will be happy to answer any questions you have. Your local representative is there for both you, your family, and the student throughout the hosting period.
-
Once you have decided which student you want to welcome into your home, you will be required to complete a host family application to be fully compliant as per Australia and New Zealand child safety laws. Once you have completed and passed all compliance checks you will then be put in direct contact with your student to begin communicating before your student arrives.
-
You can be assured that we at ‘My High School’ organise everything regarding the student’s travel and exchange elsewhere, such as airline tickets, school placement and insurance.
